Today mum gave me this Modigliani sketch book to replace my Derain one which I filled up. I love a clean slate, although, at times, it can be daunting. Like the moment I prepare a blank page, knowing I have to reach a word limit by a deadline, and everything is put on hold until I've completed the task. Everything. Eating, sleeping, talking. It's as though nothing else matters in the world but filling that blank page with words. A clean slate isn't just a page though. A clean slate is an empty room, going somewhere out of the ordinary, or meeting someone new. It's not always an inviting place to be, but given some thought, it can lead to a very satisfying conclusion.
