P A I N T M E A P I C T U R E

Fashion illustration was never something I took a keen interest in, until I discovered the delicate illustrations by Joelle Peters on the online boutique, Maximilia.com. Her illustrations inspired me to write the article 'Etching Sketches' for Frock Paper Scissors magazine, and consequently led me on a pursuit of fashion-inspired art. Since writing the article, I discovered Arturo Elena at Sydney's Fashion Palette conference this year, and more recently, Blue Logan.

The thing that really draws me to Blue Logan is the fact that he's not all about glossy magazines, catwalks and the front row. While he does sketch at fashion shows, his artistic repertoire extends to sketches of gigs, parties and backstage. The casual name-dropping in many of his sketches might seem a little pretentious, but it adds to his aesthetic, especially when considering his musically-inspired sketches. I would love to have a Logan print or two hanging up at home.
