A little something for Movember. I wonder why no one I know has taken a page out of John Waters's book for Movember? That lip hair is amazing.

GAINSBOURG
I'm a little (a lot!) disappointed that no cinemas around me screened Howl, so now I'm eagerly awaiting the release of another interesting looking biopic, Gainsbourg. Yeahhh

The woman (?) holding Salvador Dali's hand looks like the transgender from Cycle a million of America's Next Top Model. Seriously though, why do they keep producing more and more cycles of that show? They're all the same: Token fatty, token shorty, a mix of every American minority group, including but not limited to, the Latino, the Asian, the transgender, the lesbian and the African American/s - and then there's always the one contestant who actually has the potential to work as a high fashion model but she never wins. What a joke

And while I'm on the topic of James Franco, the opening credits for Freaks and Geeks where Daniel Desario poses for his school photo is killer. Gets me every time.
I've rarely been one for celebrity crushes, but I'll happily admit that Franco is a babe.

Taking into consideration the sheer volume of novels I've read in my lifetime, I think it's safe to say selecting only one to call my favourite is a challenge. Although, I'll happily admit Junky by William S. Burroughs is right up there on my list of favourites. Considering the man is a literary genius, it's only fitting that a biographical film was finally made to reflect his whirlwind life story. To further necessitate seeing this film, Patti Smith and Sonic Youth have provided the tunes, with special appearances from the musos alongside other friends and colleagues like John Waters, Iggy Pop, Gus Van Sant and David Cronenberg to name a few. William S. Burroughs: A Man Within. Cannot wait.

I almost bought Jean-Luc Godard's Made in the USA (starring Marianne Faithfull) today but opted for that film where John Malkovich plays a con slash Stanley Kubrick impersonator instead - I can't even recall the name right now. Anyway, as it turns out Jean-Luc Godard is still working. Come to think of it, I didn't even know he was still alive! His latest production / direction is the very experimental Film Socialisme which was entered into the Un Certain Regard category at Cannes. I just watched this four times consecutively and noticed something new and intriguing each time. Here goes number five. More here
